Carbohydrate Bioengineering Meeting
CBM, from its first edition 13 years ago, has now a consolidate position as biennial interdisciplinary forum in glycosciences. Carbohydrate research expanded tremendously in recent years. Glycomics and bioinformatics allowed the identification of novel genes for carbohydrate active enzymes (CAZymes). Chemistry and biochemistry developed new methods for carbohydrate synthesis and elucidated the reaction mechanism of CAZymes. Cell biology has explored the physiological role of various sugars and their implication in several diseases.
All these findings increased our knowledge on how natural world works and have been applied to benefit human health and nutrition and to develop new sustainable biotransformation methods. This comprehensive overview aims to stimulate the debate in carbohydrate bioengineering and the active exchange of scientific information between researchers from academia and industry.
CBM8 in Naples will deal with these themes and it will be composed of invited lectures of top researchers presenting their most recent discoveries, lectures selected from the submitted abstracts and poster sessions. The selection of oral and poster presentations will be based on a review of the abstracts.
